Grace through grief
Rizpah
2 Samuel 21:1-14
Rizpah teaches us the importance of grief and how our faith can help us to navigate it.
Allowing yourself to grieve is an important part of loss. Rizpah shows us that we can maintain dignity, courage and grace through our mourning.
When we grieve as Christians we aren't meant to ignore or deny our pain and sorrow, we are meant to trust God in the midst of it.
Remembering and sharing stories of our loved ones is a good thing. In 2 Samuel 21:8 Rizpah's sons were acknowledged by name and their story will go on through eternity. It is okay to speak the name of your loved ones and to share their stories with others.
Give honor to your loved ones and their memory. Rizpah was unable to prevent the death of her two sons, but she was able to honor them in their death.
There is hope in your grief. Put your trust in God and have faith in knowing you have a promised eternity with your loved ones.
xoxo
